• 2014 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse 'Jean-Pierre Wimille' achieves auction record, bringing CHF4,505,000
• 1991 Ferrari F40 achieves CHF3,323,750 as the top five lots all sell for in excess of CHF1,000,000

Zurich, September 28, 2026: RM Sotheby’s hosted an excellent boutique sale at Zurich’s Park Hyatt hotel on 26 September, with the sale grossing CHF16,302,075. Offering everything from blue-chip classics to the lates hypercars, it was the 2014 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse 'Jean-Pierre Wimille that stole the limelight and achieved a world record auction price of CHF4,505,000.

One of just three examples produced, this highly exclusive limited-edition car was the first instalment in the Bugatti Legends series, built to honour Jean-Pierre Wimille, Bugatti’s first 24 Hours of Le Mans winner. Unveiled during Monterey Car Week in August 2013, the trio of ‘Jean-Pierre Wimille’ Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesses took their inspiration from the two-tone Type 57G Tank that Wimille shared with French compatriot Robert Benoist in 1937, the year that Bugatti claimed its first-ever victory in the famous round-the-clock endurance race. The Celebratory exterior and interior features include the Le Mans circuit layout, Wimille’s portrait and signature, Bugatti elephant symbol, and French flag motifs.

The second highest seller in Zurich was the 1991 Ferrari F40. Delivered new to Switzerland in July 1991 in the desirable “cat, non-adjust” specification. The car retains its matching-numbers V-8 engine and gearbox and is presented in its factory-correct colour pairing of Rosso Corsa over Stoffa Vigogna. Certifed by Ferrari Classiche, the car achieved CHF3,323,750.

Also attracting a lot of attention was the 2023 Ferrari 812 Competizione A, one of a stated 599 examples produced. Presented in stunning Extra Range Blu Elettrico over a Cuoio leather interior, the single owner car brought CHF1,850,000.

The top four sellers on the night were rounded off by the ex-René Arnoux 1969 Lamborghini Miura P400. One of 338 examples of the P400 S built, the car offered was presented in its factory-correct colours of Rosso Corsa over a Nero and beige interior, and achieved CHF1,805,000.
