In 1936 Chevrolet overtook its competitor Ford in the sales race selling a then record number of vehicles. In addition, four-wheel hydraulic brakes became standard for the first time as well as one engine in both the Standard and Master DeLuxe series. The Cabriolet reappeared for the model year and it was only available in the Standard series. It was the only open car offered by Chevrolet since the Sports Roadster and Phaeton were discontinued early in the 1935 model year. Just 3,629 Standard Cabriolets were produced for 1936 making it a rare model new and even more so today. At $595.00 before options, it rode a 109-inch wheelbase and included a rumbleseat as standard equipment.

Chevrolets of this vintage are not typically seen by comparison to the ubiquitous Fords of the era which adds to their desirability. Powered by a 235-cid, 74-hp six-cylinder engine and three-speed manual transmission, it is nicely equipped with a canvas boot, rear fender skirts, radio, and dual rear-view mirrors while accented with yellow pinstripes and wire wheels with whitewall tires. An older restoration, it is a former Award of Excellence Winner from the Veteran Motor Car Club of America.
