The fourth-generation SL, designated R129, arrived in 1990 and was initially available in two models: the six-cylinder 300SL, and the V-8-powered 500SL. This 500SL Roadster is a very fine representative, powered by a smooth 5.0-litre V-8 engine with 32 valves, double overhead camshafts, and 322 horsepower. It displays an arresting Polo White finish with blue upholstery, a four-speed automatic transmission, and shows only 55,000 miles from new. Fully accessorized as one would anticipate on a premium Mercedes, it has both the hard and soft folding tops, the latter having just been serviced by a factory-authorized technician. This fine luxury offering has been kept as an original example and stands ready today for many more years of enjoyment.
