The first Mercedes-Benz SL Roadsters were designed to serve as a lifestyle-oriented complement to its outlandish relative, the 300SL Coupe. The 190SL and the 300SL were almost cosmetically identical. The 190SL was found to be more practical and affordable for many buyers, and more than 26,000 found loving owners during the 1955-1963 production run.

This beautiful Mercedes-Benz 190SL Roadster has benefitted from an older restoration that still shines nicely. Under the bonnet is an 1,897-cc inline four-cylinder engine that is producing 120-hp and is connected to a smooth shifting four-speed manual transmission. The owner reports that the engine and transmission are original to this car, and according to the factory build sheet that is included with the purchase of the vehicle. Fueling the engine is an Edelbrock carburetor which has replaced the original dual Solex carburetors for easier maintenance, the original carburetors are included with the car.

The Roadster is finished Fire Red, or also known as Feuerrot (Code 534). The new paint work was carried out by professionals that stripped and repainted it with care. The exterior is embellished with lovey chrome work, all of which has been redone, plus painted wheels and wheel covers match the color on the car. The interior is tailored with black leather upholstery, charcoal gray carpet and kick panels, rare factory electric clock, and features an optional small third passenger transverse seat. The car has a black convertible top with a matching boot, and located in the trunk is a spare wheel and jack.

This 190SL is said to run very strong and sound superb, backed by its smooth shifting transmission. It is reported that the car does not smoke when running, and there is no apparent signs of oil leaks.
