With the exception of the very desirable and rare RPO LS6, like drives this car, Corvette engines were detuned with reduced compression ratios to tolerate lower octane fuel. This formidable 454-cid, 425-hp V-8 powerplant has aluminum heads and led the way in the American car industry horsepower race two years running. The LS6 option carried a $1,221 price uptick when ordered; this was considerable being that the base Corvette Convertible price was listed as $5,259. This reinforced the iconic status of the Corvette and the huge following it had in the automotive world. This particular car is fitted with one of these 454-cid engines, although it was not sold this way from the factory.

This particular Corvette looks quite the part and is reported to have been driven sparingly. It is built as a tribute to the 188 factory cars built in 1971 with the fearsome LS6 engine; this powerful unit is connected to the desirable four-speed manual transmission. Total Corvette production in 1971 numbered 21,801 cars, with 7,121 of those convertibles. This very cleanly presented Corvette is finished in Code 912 Sunflower Yellow, as were 1,177 total Corvettes in the 1971 model year. It has appropriately presented black convertible top and interior too. Additional equipment on this convertible includes tilt and telescopic steering column, AM/FM radio; power windows, steering and four-wheel disc brakes. Rally wheels are also part of this well-presented tribute package.
