The second generation Corvette was introduced in 1963. Sometimes referred to as the C2 generation, the new Corvette retained the fiberglass body construction from the previous model, and featured an all new design, referred to as the Sting Ray. Nineteen sixty-six marked the first year the Corvette was offered with a 427-cid V-8 engine. Cars equipped with these larger engines received a bubble hood to accommodate the big-block. The second generation Corvette was produced through 1967. Corvettes with the 427-cid V-8 engine are sought-after by collectors.
This 1966 Chevrolet Corvette is presented in Nassau Blue, with a repaint in 1978 due to minor front end damage. This Corvette is stated to be a two-owner California car that comes as a "parked in 1982 garage find." The car comes with a removable hardtop. The car rides on steel wheels with factory spinner hubcaps. The Corvette is powered by 427-cid, 390-hp V-8 engine which is paired to an M21 four-speed manual transmission. Power is sent to a Posi-traction rear end featuring 3.55:1 gears. The Corvette’s engine, rear end, manifolds, exhaust pipes and mufflers are all reported to be original to the vehicle. The interior is completed in Bright Blue featuring an AM/FM radio and seatbelts. Power equipment on the car includes the antenna, windows and four-wheel disc brakes.
This car comes with a significant amount of documentation including the original trim and VIN tag, California title, a 1976 purchase order, registrations and insurance documents; as well as a detailed service history log book with work completed from 1976-1996.
This is an excellent opportunity to own a very rare and desirable mid-year Corvette. This car’s “survivor” appearance would make it an excellent driver or restoration candidate.
