As is the case with many of the most iconic and desirable classic automobiles, demand far outstrips supply, creating the opportunity for enterprising enthusiasts to manufacture replicas combining the style of the past with today’s modern powertrains, running gear and passenger amenities. Best of all, such replicas or recreations are eminently drivable and usable, even in modern traffic conditions.

Michael Akins formed Speedster Motorcars in 1995 following an earlier effort. The Speedster Motorcars replica offered here provides the timeless styling of the classic Auburn Speedsters of the mid-1930s with the drivability of today’s advanced automobiles and a decidedly custom touch as well.

Finished in blue and beige, this Auburn 852 replica was completed in 2004 and shows low miles on the odometer. Under the hood is the popular LS series Chevrolet 5.3-liter eight-cylinder, fuel-injected engine. A fully automatic transmission with overdrive is backing the strong engine. The luxurious cockpit has beige leather upholstery, climate control, white face gauges, power seats, power windows, radio with CD player and a woodgrain steering wheel. The outside of the speedster has wire wheels wrapped with whitewall tires, full soft top, dual cowl-mounted spotlights; and power steering and brakes give full modern control over the vehicle.

Blessed with classic Art Deco style combined with the best of today’s automotive technology, this Speedster is ready for touring and warrants closer attention.
