In the escalating arms race of ultra-high-performance track specials, Mercedes-AMG announced the GT2 PRO. With certain features disabled, it’s only eligible for select racing series—but that’s exactly the point. The GT2 PRO is aimed at passionate club-level drivers and collectors who want something faster, rarer, and less restricted than anything with a race number. While it was conceived more for fun than competitive action, AMG offers access to its exclusive Racing Series events—giving owners a dedicated arena to put the PRO to proper use.
Born from the bones of the AMG GT2 customer race car, the GT2 PRO shares the same 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V-8 engine but adds a new weapon to its arsenal: a Push2Pass system that unleashes up to 750 horsepower at the press of a button, turning hot laps into full-on assaults.
Underneath, the PRO gets a familiar six-speed sequential gearbox mounted in a rear transaxle, along with 18-inch centre-lock wheels. But the PRO improves on its racing GT2 sibling with four-way adjustable dampers (up from three-way), more aggressive aero including reworked rear wing endplates, and upgraded cooling for both the engine and brakes—because going fast is only part of the equation; staying fast is the real test.
While the race-spec GT2 comes in regulation-locked Iridium Silver, the PRO breaks free with a striking multi-colour finish of Special PRO Matte Grey paintwork accented in Petronas Green—a nod to Mercedes-AMG’s Formula 1 livery. The cockpit gets bespoke treatment as well: a lacquered centre console, unique seat stitching, and a motorsport-style cube controls steering wheel with the all-important Push2Pass button at your fingertips. Air conditioning comes standard, because even track beasts deserve a little comfort.
This Swiss-delivery GT2 PRO is presented having never been used. It is offered from the collection of its one-and-only owner and would make a fitting addition to another grouping of potent track-going cars.
