Whether you remember him as “Mr. Saturday Night” or “The Great One,” Jackie Gleason is clearly one of the greatest performers and most legendary figures in America’s long history of entertainers.

This uncommon 1974 Excalibur SS Phaeton was custom-ordered new by Mr. Gleason; it is finished in Lemon Twist Yellow and Black with a Black and Yellow two-tone interior and a custom cane overlay on the doors and trunk. It is being offered with only 17,617 actual miles, and it is truly a one-off car with distinctiveness and a wonderful ownership history.

The frame was extended to the rear to accommodate a custom built trunk per Mr. Gleason's request. This is another feature that is unique to this car. Mr. Gleason also ordered this Phaeton with the convertible top and the lift-off hardtop, believed to be the first Excalibur Phaeton Series II with the lift-off hardtop. Mr. Gleason requested his Excalibur be built with options such as a 454-cid, 275-hp LS4 V-8 engine with a Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission, air conditioning, air horns, driving lights, spotlights, tilt wheel, AM/FM/ stereo cassette, gold-toned hood ornament, windwings, six Dayton wire wheels, whitewall tires; power steering and brakes.

Included in the sale are the original Order Confirmation and Work Order, as well as the Delivery Report Card showing Mr. Jackie Gleason as the original purchaser. From Mr. Gleason’s ownership, the car was purchased by Columbus, Ohio realtor, Bob Kent. Excalibur put him in touch with Mr. Gleason when he inquired about purchasing a yellow Excalibur for his wife as a Christmas present. Mr. Gleason wanted to sell his Excalibur as he had outsized the car. Mr. Kent kept the car until his death and it was then sold to a good friend of his who also kept it until his passing. The current vendor purchased the Jackie Gleason Excalibur from this gentleman’s widow.
