Vanishingly rare in any configuration, the Maserati Bora ended production in 1978. Across an eight-year lifecycle, just 564 examples were built. Of those, only 275 gained the more desirable and more powerful 4.9-litre V-8 engine.

Documented by an accompanying Maserati Technical and Aesthetic Characteristics Certificate, this car was built for the United States market in March 1975 and road-registered four months later in July. A previous state title indicates that the Bora was owned in New York by Mr Peter Perry from June 2008, with the car subsequently exported to Europe and registered to the vendor in Austria from April 2017.

The Maserati has been beautifully restored and now features smarter European-style bumpers. It also presents in its factory colour scheme of Giallo over Black Connolly leather and boasts its matching-numbers engine, which is paired to a five-speed manual ZF transmission.

The unsung supercar of the 1970s, the Maserati Bora touts stunning Giorgetto Giugiaro styling plus seats and a stainless-steel roof seemingly straight from the space age. This incredibly rare 4.9-litre model, offered in its correct colours and with its matching-numbers engine, now awaits its next enthusiastic custodian.
