A two-seater coupé intended to double down on the success of the 3500 GT and Sebring, the Mistral was named after the strong winds blowing from the Mediterranean coast in the south of France. Introduced in 1963, the model courted a steady flow of orders to remain in production until 1970. In that time 383 Coupés were built with the 3.7-litre straight-six engine paired to a five-speed ZF manual gearbox, including the example offered here.
Factory data provided by Maserati records that chassis number AM109 0286 holds a 3 April 1965 date of completion. Finished in Argento Auteuil over Red leather, the Mistral was delivered new in Milan. It is supported by a libretto document issued in November 1966 and estratto cronologico detailing its Italian ownership history. The car is thought to have undergone an older restoration. Accordingly, both the paint and interior would benefit from a refresh.
Most recently residing as part of a Maserati collection in Austria, this Mistral wears its factory colour scheme and is ready to be revitalised by a new custodian.
