The Series 62 line, such as the car being offered, was designated by Cadillac to replace the Series 61 in 1940. Series 61 would be brought back in 1941, but the Series 62 nameplate would remain in use by Cadillac through 1964. The Fisher-bodied Series 62 used a 126-inch wheelbase. It was available as a club coupe, sedan, convertible coupe and convertible sedan. This would prove to be the last year for Cadillac to offer the convertible sedan in its lineup. For the first time since 1926, all Cadillac’s shared the same engine, which was a 346 cu. in., 150 hp L-head V-8.

Front end stylists adopted a theme that was to be repeated for years to come. The one piece hood came down lower in the front, included the side panels and extended sideways to the fenders. A single, rectangular panel of louver trim was used on each side of the hood. Access to the engine compartment was improved. The rectangular grille was wide, vertical and bulged forward in the middle area. Headlights were built into the leading surface of the fenders with provision for integral accessory fog lights provided under the headlights. Three chrome trim spears were placed horizontally on the rear section of all four fenders, excluding the Sixty Special. Fender skirts were now standard on most models. Designated by the Classic Car Club of America as a Full Classic, the 1941 Cadillac has long been the car of choice for caravans and touring because they are such a delight to drive.
