Evan joined RM Sotheby’s in 2024, bringing an incredible expert level of knowledge in early automobiles to our specialist team. His career, spanning over two decades, has seen him operate in a variety of capacities, including auction house specialist, historian, and professional restorer. His specific interest and specialization lie in automobiles built prior to World War II, and he boasts an impressive collection of his own, consisting largely of pre-war cars. Evan is the founder and principal of Historic Vehicle Services, a Massachusetts-based restoration shop, where he combines his experience and interests in restoring unique and ultra-rare automobiles. To date, his restorations have earned multiple awards, including several ‘Best of Class’ wins, most notably at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

In addition to his preservation efforts, Evan is an accomplished author, publishing two books, Packard Motor Car Company and Larz Anderson Park, the latter a detailed history of a beloved community park donated by American diplomat and car collector, Larz Anderson, and published while Evan served as curator of the Larz Anderson Auto Museum. Evan has also authored a section of The Stewardship of Historically Significant Automobiles—the first book ever published on automotive preservation. Fans of Chasing Classic Cars may also recognize Evan for his recurring role on the hit television show.

Evan remains active with notable collections and museums, touring the world as a guest lecturer at various locales, including the Royal Automobile Club in London and the Audrain Automobile Museum in Rhode Island, as well as serving as an international advisor with the Louwman Museum in The Hague, NL for more than a decade.
