  • Handsome Oze Custom Roadster; Small block Chevy power; Street rod for the 21st century; Includes a photo album of its build process

Est. 400 bhp, 400 cu. in. OHV V-8 engine, Hydra-Matic transmission, independent front suspension and live rear axle with air springs, and four-wheel power disc brakes. Wheelbase: 112 in.

The Oze Rod Shop in Hamilton, Ohio, has come up with a solution to the scarcity of old Fords, which has hampered the building of new street rods. The Oze Street Rod kit is comprised of a custom chassis frame that was built to better-than-new standards and a correct 112-inch Ford wheelbase, in order to preserve the correct proportions. The bodies are stylized fiberglass constructions that use lines of E.T. Gregorie’s original 1937 Ford design. The car can be set up for either Ford or Chevy power, in big or small block form, and can be tailored to the customer’s exact preferences in any number of ways, to ensure that every Oze hits the street looking different from the next.

This Oze Roadster has a removable hardtop, a 400-cubic inch Chevy small block, and an automatic transmission. The suspension is from Air Ride Technologies and has tubular A-arms in the front and four-link trailing arms in the rear. The steering is power rack-and-pinion, and the brakes are power discs all around, to provide adequate stopping power. The car is also documented by a photo album of its build process, which showcases the quality of the build from the ground up.

The deep maroon metallic finish is excellent, as is the maroon and grey soft leather interior. Other features on the car include Dolphin gauges, Vintage Air air conditioning, power windows, and a Kenwood sound system. Boyd Coddington wheels run on Michelin LTX radials, with P2215/45R17 in the front and P255/55R18 in the rear. This is tasteful and terrific street rod for the 21st century that will drive as good as it looks.
