First breaking cover at the 1984 Paris Motor Show, the Ferrari Testarossa drew instant acclaim for its visual appeal when new. The low-slung wedge profile of the two-door coupé—along with its slatted side panels that push air towards the mid-mounted 12-cylinder engine—make for an instantly recognisable shape. Earliest versions of the Testarossa can be identified by the single mirror mounted high on the A-pillar—hence the “Monospecchio” nickname. The car would stay in production until 1991, later lightly revised as the 512 TR and then the F512 M.
The Testarossa drew a cult following thanks to numerous film and TV appearances, further to the amount of celebrities that owned one. The 4.9-litre flat-12 engine, rated at 385 horsepower when new, could reportedly power the car from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.2 seconds. The example offered for sale was brought into France by the renowned importer, Pozzi. Here, it is finished in the classic colour combination of Rosso Corsa over a cream and brown leather interior, and has been owned by its consignor since 2005. The odometer reads 56,470 km at the time of cataloguing. While this Testarossa will need mechanical recommissioning to get back on the road, having been on static display for some years, the early specification of this car will appeal to many Ferrari enthusiasts.
