In 1961, Jaguar released a successful combination of everything it had learned from winning races and constructing commercially successful road cars, like the E-Type. It was a clear descendant of the D-Type, but its well-appointed interior, civilized 3.8-liter XK engine, and compliant suspension made it an ideal two place touring car. The first E-Type roadster proved to be an immediate success, and it remains a timeless design, widely considered one of the prettiest sports cars ever built.

This wonderful E-Type has undergone a comprehensive, documented restoration by Classic Showcase, of Oceanside, California, during which no expense was spared. From the outset, the car was evaluated, inspected, and photographed. Then it was disassembled, stripped to bare metal, placed on a rotisserie, metal finished, leaded, prepared for primer, sealer, paint, base and clear coat, color sanded, and buffed to a fabulous finish. Along with a new windshield and door glass, all mechanical systems and components were rebuilt or replaced, as needed. The engine and four-speed transmission were rebuilt to factory specifications, as well as the rear end and suspension. All other systems, such as the electricals, hydraulic system, cooling system, and fuel system, were restored or replaced, and the car received an all new wire harness and new rubber and grommets.

This E-Type sits on 15-inch wire wheels and has a one inch smaller steering wheel for better handling. It also has a Sony AM/FM CD stereo system in the radio console. The top bows and seat frames were restored, and the car also received a complete new custom tailored and fitted interior in the correct materials by Classic Showcase’s upholstery department. Finished in a spectacular Golden Sand over tan leather, this is a wonderful E-Type for any discerning Jaguar collector. A DVD of the restoration process accompanies the car, and with only 850 test miles driven since the restoration, this Series I E-Type is ready for concours and driving events alike.
