Completed in August of 1971, this 240Z was sold new via Heines Oldsmobile Datsun of Victorville, CA to Carole Ann Obser of nearby Apple Valley, located in San Bernadino County, northeast of Los Angeles, on September 29, 1971.

A temporary California Department of Motor Vehicles identification card for a used vehicle can be found in the file, showing that the car was sold from Ms. Obser (wearing the California vanity plate “OBSER”) to James Norman Squires of Victorville, purchased by him on Boxing Day 1972. Subsequent documentation in the car’s truly exceptional history file show that this was not Mr. Squires, but Captain Squires of the United States Air Force. Victorville was home to the George Air Force Base, which was used extensively as a training facility for both U.S. and foreign pilots in fighter jets.

The file shows that in the mid 1970s, Captian Squires moved to Sacremento, but he would retain the car for the following four decades, carefully preserved in Califonia’s dry climate. Finally sold by him in 2018, the car was purchased by enthuaists in the Netherlands directly from Captain Squires Following a full restoration in its original colours, the car was road registered and presents in truly exceptional condition both inside and out.

Obviously a significant purchase for Captain Squires and an important partner in life for over forty years, it is rare to see a 240Z with such a well-documented history. This alone warrants significant attention and helps this car to stand proud amongst its peers. One would be hard pressed to find a more interesting 240Z anywhere.
