THE F4 750 SERIE ORO

Introduced in 1998, the F4 was the motorcycle that brought the famed MV Agusta brand back to life. Designed by Massimo Tamburini at the famed Cagiva Research Center in San Marino, the development of the F4’s engine was further assisted by engineers at Ferrari. Thanks to their involvement, the model is one of few superbikes available which features a hemispherical chamber, four-valves-per-cylinder engine.

Displacing nearly 750 cubic centimeters, this power unit pushes the F4 to a reported top speed of 175 mph, and a redline which arrives at an ear-shattering 17,000 rpm. In a further nod to Ferrari’s involvement, the motorcycle’s tachometer features a yellow face. Tamburini cleverly used an abundance of carbon fiber and alloy castings in its construction, which gives the F4 one of the best power-to-weight ratios of any motorcycle in its class; it tips the scales at just 397 pounds.

The F4’s premier series—the Serie Oro— was limited to just 300 examples worldwide. The model’s name, “Oro” (Italian for gold) is a reference not only to its exclusivity, but also the gold anodized finish which adorns many of the motorcycle’s bespoke magnesium components.

The F4 was widely considered to be one of the best superbikes in the world at the time of its release. Contemporary road tests raved about its incredible handling, and they were confident that this motorcycle would be successful, securing the future of the MV Agusta brand.

SERIE ORO 278

The MV Agusta F4 750 Serie Oro presented here is number 278 of 300 produced. Ordered new by Carl Haas directly from MV Agusta in August 1999 through Johansson Motorsports, this remarkable Italian superbike presently indicates approximately 86 miles on its digital odometer. Like all the Serie Oro motorcycles, this example’s carbon fiber bodywork is finished in the traditional MV Agusta color scheme of red over silver.

Accompanying the motorcycle is a set of manuals, tools, a matching stand, motorcycle cover, and its original MV Agusta delivery crate. Additionally on file is correspondence from Carl Haas (on Newman/Haas Racing letterhead) expressing his excitement to receive his new motorcycle. As well as a fax from MV Agusta’s then-president Claudio Castiglioni regarding the delivery of this special, limited-production example.

This particular Serie Oro offers a rare opportunity to acquire a very exclusive superbike exhibiting minimal use, directly from its one and only owner, Carl Haas of Newman/Haas Racing.
