For 1955 the Fairlane replaced the Crestline in Ford’s model lineup. The car was offered in either six- or eight-cylinder configuration, with six different body styles to choose from. The two more unique body styles were the Crown Victoria Skyliner and Crown Victoria. The dazzling new models each featured a bright chrome “tiara,” with the Crown Victoria Skyliner exhibiting a transparent plexiglass front roof section while the Crown Victoria had a normal painted roof panel. The all-new Ford designs were very well received, so much so that Ford Motor Company recorded its second-best year trailing only Model T-fueled year of 1923.
This 1955 Ford Fairlane Crown Victoria is finished in Snowshoe White. Exterior features include dual sideview mirrors and color-matched fender skirts. It rides on wide whitewall tires mounted on red painted steel wheels with factory wheel covers. The Ford is powered by a 272-cubic-inch V-8 engine with oil bath air cleaner. The engine is backed by an automatic transmission. The two-tone white and red interior features a clock, radio, and power windows.
A nicely restored example, it was awarded an Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) National First Prize in 2001.
