To many collectors, the legendary Packard straight eight is one of the finest automobile engines ever produced. In the five main bearing, 282-cu. in. configuration, it powered the cars credited with ushering Packard through the Great Depression, the more affordable Junior cars. Those who could afford the more luxurious Senior Packards such as this car, the 1936 Packard Super Eight coupe, were treated to the 38-cu. in., 150-bhp powerplant. Backed by a three-speed synchromesh transmission, this engine powered the 14th Series Packards to the forefront of the American automobile industry even as the national economy struggled to recover.

The car offered here is one of just 1,330 Super Eights produced for 1936. The Super Eight is unquestionably one of the finest driving pre-war Packards. This example offers four-wheel vacuum-assisted mechanical brakes, Trippe dual driving lights, and a reliable modern distributor in place of the original point setup.

Very few pre-war automobiles offer the combination of luxury, elegance, and performance so perfectly as a Packard; this truly stunning example is no exception. Presented in a rich two-tone livery of burgundy and cream with an exceptional tan leather upholstery and a wood dash, it shows beautifully. The car currently rides on wide whitewall tires on wire wheels with factory hubcaps. Further highlighting its status as a luxury automobile par excellence, the coupe offers dual side-mounted spares with sideview mirrors, golf club doors, and a trunk rack with trunk complete with a classic picnic set.

Recognized as a Full Classic by the CCCA and a 1991 participant in the Great American Race, this exceptional Packard makes an ideal choice for tours, rallies, and numerous events throughout the country.
