The 1966 Corvette carried over much of the prior years’ designs with a few subtle changes. A Corvette script was now found on the hood, while the roof vents, previously both functional and non-functional, were deleted completely and the base engine was bumped from 250 horsepower up to 300. Corvette for 1966 meant a grand touring machine set up for two with unsurpassed road manners with plenty of luxury and stand out style as America’s premier sports car.
Offered here is a very nice example of a beautiful Sunfire Yellow convertible that is powered by the very desirable 427 cubic inch V-8 engine that is pumping out approximately 390 horsepower. Backing this powerful engine is a smooth shifting four-speed manual transmission. This car has been fitted with a black convertible top, a sporty black interior, side pipe exhaust system, factory Delco AM/FM radio, now standard four-wheel disc brakes, tastefully sized whitewall tires, Rally wheels and seatbelts.
Of the production total of 27,720 1966 Corvettes, only 5,116 made it down the assembly line with this powerplant designated for them. Coveted then as now – with 427 cubic inches, do we really need to use many adjectives?
