The Lancia Aurelia B24S Convertible represents the zenith of 1950s Italian engineering, seamlessly blending technical innovation with timeless Pinin Farina design. The example on offer, chassis 1478, is a desirable sixth-series Aurelia benefitting from the model's most refined technical specifications, including the legendary 2.5-liter V-6 engine, wind-up windows, and improved cockpit ergonomics.
One of just 371 sixth-series B24S Convertibles produced, chassis 1478 is further distinguished by retaining its numbers-matching engine per a build report from Stellantis Heritage in Turin. Delivered new in the elegant factory pairing of Sky Blue over Natural leather, the car is understood to have spent much of its early life in Italy, where it benefited from long-term, attentive stewardship. In 1985, the car was reportedly treated to a restoration by one of the era’s premier Lancia specialists, Giancarlo Kappa (KCA).
After its purchase at RM Sotheby’s 2015 London sale, the car was imported to the United States and underwent a comprehensive, multi-year restoration by Vantage Motors in Stamford, Connecticut. Completed in 2023, the work included body refinishing, interior retrimming in black Connolly leather, and a full mechanical rebuild using correct European-sourced components, all documented by extensive records.
Accompanied by its Stellantis build report, ACI Sport Fiche, and a detailed file of restoration records, chassis 1478 is a masterpiece ready to be driven and enjoyed on any number of vintage rallies and tours around the world. Whether taken along coastal highways, displayed on the concours lawn, or exercised in prestigious driving events, this Aurelia delivers a uniquely romantic and immersive motoring experience that continues to define the very best of post-war Italian design.
