To heads of state, the jet set, and the generally well-to-do, Mercedes-Benz has been the go-to manufacturer for decades. Ownership of a Mercedes-Benz symbolizes not only power and wealth but also success and a taste for the finer things in life, in terms of both German engineering and design.

Even when new, you did not expect to see a Mercedes-Benz 280SE cabriolet or coupe every day. When seen in a crowd, you observe that it is a model based on perfection. Endowed with qualities renowned the world over; its impeccable styling shuns clichés.

Launched in 1967 and produced until 1971, the Mercedes 280SE 111 Chassis (available as a Coupe and Cabriolet) models offered buyers an inline 2.8-liter six-cylinder engine fitted with a fuel injection system, offering 180-hp. When the series was introduced, Road and Track Magazine said “one of the best-looking body designs to come from any German concern.” With its beautiful design and exceptional proportion, this series became an instant classic.

Before the launch of the legendary Mercedes 280SE 3.5, the Mercedes 280SE 2.8 Cabriolet saw 1,390 models roll off the production floor. A further 1,232 3.5 Cabriolets would follow. Reportedly a California family owned 280SE, it is said that it is now being offered for sale for the first time since new. A well preserved example, recently receiving an updated restoration with attention to its preservation and history. Its original Light Ivory and Chocolate Brown canvas top, accent its rare Cognac leather interior, covering nearly every aspect of its interior. Complete books, keys and comprehensive records dating back to the early 1970s are included.
