The all-new Camaro was selected to pace the 1993 Indianapolis 500, becoming the first model in history to be selected for that honor four times. To commemorate the event, Chevrolet built 645 pace car replicas to be sold to the public, with 125 of those used for parade duty at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway. They are quite distinctive in their appearance with flowing, ribbon-like side graphics that gives the car the feel of constant motion. As is custom, the Camaro is presented with the Indianapolis 500 event graphics and Indianapolis Motor Speedway logos. The cloth interior of the car is equally unique with multi-colored fabric on the seats and door side-panels complementing the cars exterior motif. Painted alloy 16-inch wheels were also model specific to the Z28 pace car.

These cars carry a full accompaniment of power conveniences such as air conditioning, power driver’s seat, locks and windows, a Delco-Bose entertainment system and glass T-tops. Power is borrowed from the Corvette, utilizing the 350-cid, 275-hp V-8 engine that is mated to a four-speed automatic transmission and in no need of modification to pace the race field.

This particular '93 Camaro pace car is reported as all original and nearly new showing under 480 actual miles on the odometer, and is preserved in every way imaginable, including the seats still in wrap and complete documentation. According to this documentation, the delivery inspection was completed on May 27, 1993. The original owner (the current owner is its second) is said to have walked into a local Indianapolis Chevrolet dealership soon after the May 30th Indy 500 (won in a thriller by Team Penske’s Emerson Fittipaldi) and completed his purchase of the Camaro.

The documentation includes the build sheet and lists all options. The following listing of option codes was forwarded illustrating the many accessories that were built in to these cars; AAT, AC3, AKS, AR9, AU3, A31, A90, BSA, CCI, C49, C60, DG7, DSX, D81, FE2, GUS, U73, VK3, V73, YK6, Z28, O1U, IAY, 1SZ, 12C, 121, 6EJ, 7EJ, 8TH and 9TH. Two detailed factory sheets accompany the car which deciphers the aforementioned codes. The anti-lock brake system card is still to be removed by the purchaser of the vehicle. There is even the record of the date when the transporter was unloaded. Additional documents include the instruction CD for the cars features and also its radio controls, factory owner’s manual, spare keys and stock number card in original wrapping, factory blanks and tags, factory sealed bag containing information on security lug nuts, vehicle registration, insurance identification card, dealer business cards, Chevrolet plastic key card and naturally, the cars window sticker.
