Introduced in 1961, the Triumph TR4 manufactured by the Triumph Motor Company utilized numerous chassis and drivetrain components of the predecessor Triumph TR3, but featured a body of all new design by Giovanni Michelotti. Advanced features included the first use of adjustable fascia ventilation in a production car. The TR4 also featured rack-and-pinion steering, imitation wood dash trim, a full synchromesh four-speed manual transmission and 2,138-cc, 104-hp OHV inline four-cylinder engine with dual SU carburetors. The TR4 also improved passenger comfort with wind-up windows, face-level ventilation and an optional hardtop, if desired.
This TR4 is cosmetically restored and has extensive receipts and maintenance records and is quite handsome in white with a new black leather interior that is piped white with a black top, plus a matching tonneau cover and carpets. The consignor believes that the car has 56,000 original miles and has documentation. Other reworked equipment includes new suspension, new exhaust system, new steering rack, new clutch, new master cylinder, new pressure plate, new tie rod ends, ball joints, and bushings. Triumph’s woodgrain dash, a sporting three-spoke steering wheel with wood rim, radio, seatbelts, foglights, four-wheel disc brakes and painted wire-spoke wheels with two-prong knock-offs round out the package.
