The Hummer H1 is a civilian-based off-road vehicle based on the M998 Humvee, which was designed and built by AM General, originally for military use. The vehicle was produced from 1992 through 2006, and was the first of the Hummer line. It was initially known only as the "Hummer"; however, in 1999 in a joint venture between General Motors and AM General, GM began promoting the Hummer H2. The original Hummer was then given the H1 label.

Originally released in the civilian market March 14, 1992, the Hummer H1 owed its origination to the number of photos from Operation Desert Storm and the enthusiastic campaign from actor-politician Arnold Schwarzenegger, who was amazed at the capabilities and wanted one for civilian use. The Hummer H1 has three common variants: a convertible-like soft-top, a four-door hardtop and a wagon body version. Other variants include a two-door pickup truck, most commonly seen in the military sporting Anti-Air turrets and other launchers, or used as troop and cargo transports, and a four-door slantback, which shares the same body style of the Humvee employed by the U.S. Military and was only made for one model year much to the dismay of many enthusiasts.

Hummer H1s are remarkable in the way they handle off-road excursions and in their interior arrangement. This particular example has been thoroughly customized with many chrome accessory details and additional functional equipment. Among the equipment features are custom diamond-plated bumper covers, custom stainless steel over-the-hood brush guard, two eight-inch KC off-road lights, stainless steel side steps with quick detachment for off-road use, stainless steel light bar with six KC off-road lights, custom stainless rear LED marker light box with three red LED’s, stainless front LED marker box with three amber LED’s, custom chrome-plated billet aluminum door handles with custom H1 engraving, stainless steel door hinge covers, stainless front grille cover, stainless diamond plate front bumper cover, stainless diamond plate lower skid plate cover, stainless turn signal visors, stainless rocker panels with Hummer decals, stainless hood latches, stainless rear taillight bezels, stainless front and rear tow hooks, stainless diamond plate rear bumper cover, stainless front and rear side reflector covers with chrome bezels, stainless windshield surround, stainless window rain guards, stainless body panel inserts, stainless front hood trim, stainless headlight bezels, custom stainless wire mesh grille, stainless air intake cover, LED front and rear side marker lights, LED front and rear marker lights, chrome tailgate Hummer decal, custom Hadley air horn, Momo steering wheel, cruise control, automatic transmission, air conditioning; power locks, steering and windows.

As if this isn’t enough to attract you, the Hummer also has remote keyless entry, bucket seats, ABS, tinted glass, tow package, Rhino-lined bed, 22-inch chrome wheels with corresponding tires, Alpine stereo system, with six-disc CD changer, two PDX 4.100 amps and six JBL speakers and iPod hookup through the glovebox. The Hummer also has a new injector pump, new hoses and a rack system between the rear seats. For a final flourish of detail, the H1 has a chrome bolt cover on “nearly every bolt.”
