The Jensen Interceptor provides a unique blend of English craftsmanship and American muscle; hand-built at the Kelvin Way factory and designed by Carrozzeria Touring of Italy.
The example being offered is the last, and regarded as most elegant version, known as the Interceptor III. It includes handcrafted Connelly leather seats that were custom fit in the same shop that did the interiors for Rolls-Royce, hand-selected burled walnut dash and a rich ventile tan canvas top with wool liner.
The Interceptor III was produced only in 1975 and 1976 and is powered by a Chrysler 440-cid, 220-hp V-8 engine with dual-quad carburetors and is coupled to a high-performance four-speed manual transmission. In period it was able to outperform comparable models from Jaguar and Porsche. The entire coachwork was hand-built and exhibits extensive refinement and detail in brightwork, interior trim elements and overall style.
This Jensen is presented in the favored color combination of British Racing Green with a rich tan interior. Both the body and engine show remarkable authenticity, including original seats, chrome trim elements and engine. The Interceptor III also features dual relay-controlled fans to insure proper cooling regardless of outside temperatures and engine operating speed.
The Jensen has recently completed a complete major tune-up and mechanical reconditioning, along with new tires. All systems operate properly, including the retraction of the convertible top. These cars receive more attention all of the time and cars in the condition of this example, along with its genuine characteristics are looked for and appreciated. Of the 6,000 Interceptors produced, this represents one of only 267 convertibles of this model produced.
