In the fall of 1969, Michelle Phillips of The Mamas & the Papas came to the realization that her 1967 Jaguar XKE Convertible was not conducive to parenthood. In the market for a new car, Michelle visited Hollywood Mercedes-Benz and came across this stunning 1970 Mercedes-Benz 250 C on the showroom floor. Buying the car on the spot, she reportedly didn’t even discuss the trade-in value on the Jaguar. The 250 C proved to be an excellent choice for the new mother with a budding acting career. The car saw Michelle through many movies, including an extended trip to Oklahoma in 1972 while filming the movie Dillinger. It also saw her to numerous 5:00AM call times during her many seasons starring in Knots Landing.
This 1970 Mercedes-Benz 250 C is powered by a 2.8-liter inline six-cylinder (M130) engine, which is paired to a four-speed automatic transmission. The interior is completed in Black MB-Tex and features air conditioning, power windows, steering and four-wheel disc brakes. Included with the car is the original service manual with Michelle’s name and service entries.
While Michelle Phillips has owned many cars throughout her lifetime, this 1970 Mercedes-Benz was always her favorite. Benefitting from single ownership, this original California blue plate car has been regularly maintained and is ready for new ownership to enjoy.
