The first generation Toyota RAV4 EV, or “Electric Vehicle,” was one of the first fully electric vehicles to be made available to the general public in California. Although production began in 1997, the RAV4 EV wasn’t available for sale or lease to the individual until 2003. Despite a long waiting list, the project was terminated within a year with only 328 RAV4 EVs sold or leased. The second generation wouldn’t become available until almost ten years later. When new, the NiMH battery pack powered the EV up to 78-mph with an estimated range of around 95 miles.
This 2002 Toyota RAV4 EV is white with a clean gray fabric interior. All of the original emblems and decals are in place. Indeed, this early electric vehicle appears to be an honest well-looked after example of what now can be considered a truly rare car.
