When the legendary Ford Thunderbird was first introduced in 1955 it was not considered a sports car but, rather, it created a new market segment, the personal luxury car. This 1964 Ford Thunderbird looks elegant finished in black with a matching black interior. A long-term owner (from 1970 to 2011) had the car partially restored in the mid-1990s to a high standard. The car still presents well today. It features front disc brakes, power windows, dual mirrors, original keys, and a “curb feeler.” Power comes from a 390 cubic inch V-8 with a four-barrel carburetor. In native lore the “thunderbird” is considered “a supernatural bird of power and strength.”
