Mercedes-Benz began offering an SL model in 1954 with the 300SL. The SL designation in German stands for Sportlich-Leicht, which when translated to English stands for Sport Lightweight. Throughout the various generations of SL production, the car has always represented the grand tourer in Mercedes-Benz’s model lineup.

This 1999 Mercedes-Benz SL500 Convertible is presented in yellow, with both a color matched factory hardtop as well as a black soft-top. The hardtop is unique as it features a glass roof, an expensive option when new. This generation of 500SL is referred to internally as a R129. The vehicle is powered by a V-8 engine which is paired to an automatic transmission. The alloy wheels are AMG-spec and four-wheel disc brakes add to the sporty nature of the car. The interior is completed in black leather featuring dark woodgrained accents throughout the cabin. Included with the car is the Mercedes-Benz factory tool roll as well as a rear windscreen for more comfortable convertible driving. R129s were produced through 2001.
