The E-type received its engine technology from the Jaguar XK 120, which dates back to 1948. The XK’s engine was strong and led the 120 to become the world’s fastest production vehicle of its day. The well-proven engine was not altered drastically, although a higher-capacity water pump was fitted to the E-Type to enable it to adapt better to warmer climates. The 4.2-liter dual overhead cam, inline six-cylinder engine is able to cultivate 245 horsepower. The braking system was upgraded, with larger disc brakes utilizing three-piston calipers at the front and two-pistons at the rear.
Comfortable reclining seats with adjustable headrests were now standard, and this particular E-Type is tailored with tan upholstery that is believed to be original. The interior is very plush and a blast from the past with the flat dash and robust instrument gauges. The exterior has been recently refinished in black; the soft bodylines really allow the color to pop. From the front of the vehicle it gives off a calm look, but the sound of that rumbling engine under the hood gives off a sense of pride. XKs Unlimited has completed a recent mechanical reconditioning and the owner reports that this automobile is an excellent driver. This Jaguar E-Type shows the craftsmanship and quality of work that Jaguar put into their production vehicles.
