Locomobile originated in Watertown, Massachusetts in June of 1899, later moving to Bridgeport, Connecticut where they spent the remaining 29 years in operation. This Model 48 is a well-designed, yet practical automobile with its long, sweeping fenders and a straight six-cylinder engine. It has many intricate details such as wooden wheels, wide whitewall tires with matching spare, running boards, “Stop” taillight, four-spoke steering wheel and a hinged windshield for ventilation. The long wheelbase of this vehicle makes for a smooth ride; dual distributors allow for ease of mind while operating this luxurious Landau Brougham. This car is a great representation of the Locomobile company. Nineteen twenty-five was the last year that they produced the Model 48, the Model 90 later took its place.
