The Impala was the recipient of new styling in 1961, which appeared a little boxier than the previous design. In 1962, the Impalas featured a “C” pillar styling, except for the four-door hardtop. Chevrolet advertised the car as having “Rich new styling with a jet-smooth ride!” The Impala rode on full coil suspension, and the Sport Coupe was available with a 283-cid, 170-hp Turbo-Fire V-8, or a 235-cid, 135-hp Hi-Thrift six-cylinder engine.

In 1962 the Impala Super Sport was a special equipment package that combined the sports car style with a full-size car that had room and comfort. This option was available on the Sport Coupe and the Convertible. The SS options would have included: front bucket seats, soft vinyl throughout, sports car assist bar (mounted to the passenger side dashboard), center locking console, patterned aluminum body molding, knock-off styling wheel covers, distinctive SS badging, along with four different V-8 options. The Impala offered here is characterized by all of these options, although the wheels have been changed to a newer Rally-style wheel, and from the pictures that are present, there appears to be no locking center console.

This Chevrolet Impala is powered by a stout 327-cid, 350-hp V-8 engine. The engine compartment is very detailed and is shown with 327 Turbo-Fire stickers, both on the air cleaner and the valve cover. Transferring power to the wheels is a column-shift automatic transmission. The new interior is finished in black with front bucket seats, button-tufted door panels, matching carpet and dashboard, white star printed headliner and an AM radio. The paint was completed in maroon, highlighted with the SS molding, badging, and polished wheels wrapped with white letter tires.

The Impala was subject to a frame-off restoration that was completed in 2014 and has only had test miles driven since restoration. The fresh restoration and the distinctive collectability of these Impalas make it a fine investment.
