The 190SL was first displayed as a show car at New York in 1954. This high-quality, two-seat roadster was based upon a shortened 220 chassis and came with 105 brake horsepower, a four-cylinder engine and an optional hardtop. A production version followed and was launched at Geneva in 1955, retailing for $3,998 with a soft-top or $4,295 with an additional removable hardtop. That was little more than half the cost of the 300SL and, as such, nearly eight times the amount of many 190SLs that were sold in the next eight years.

Offered here is the perfect opportunity to own a true piece of Mercedes-Benz history. Being offered for sale after an extended ownership of over 25 years is this 1959 Mercedes-Benz 190SL Roadster. Equipped with a 1,897-cid four-cylinder engine putting out 120-hp and paired with a manual transmission, this classic Mercedes-Benz is sure to not disappoint. This fine example is still sporting many of its original components including Solex carburetors and an AM/FM radio. This 190SL is said to be in original condition and is described as a great driver or alternatively, certainly worthy of a restoration project. The exterior of the car is stunning with the rare paint color of Brick Red and complemented by tan interior. The mileage shown on the odometer reads 84,950, which are believed to be original. Please note that only the canvas soft top is included in the sale of this car.
