The current owner, a knowledgeable marque specialist, acquired this Series 1 E-Type from the daughter of its longtime owner in the Midwest. Born in January 1966, it has undergone an extensive professional restoration, using all of the original numbers-matching components that match the original serial number tag.
As part of this work, the body received a show-quality repaint in silver with a beautiful burgundy interior and black top, as well as new window glass. The engine was completely rebuilt and bored out, with new pistons, resized rods, a reground crankshaft, new timing chains and tensioner, and a dynamically balanced rotating assembly, for smooth and quiet running. The gearbox was dismantled and fitted with new bearings, synchromesh rings, a new layshaft, and new gaskets and seals. The differential was also dismantled and rebuilt with new bearings, seals, and a new 3.07:1 gearset, allowing the renowned Jaguar torque to pull a taller ratio while decreasing the revs during acceleration and cruising.
An alloy radiator was fitted with a 16-in. electric fan, to keep the car running at an optimum temperature, as well as a completely new fuel system, a new fuel pump, and even a new set of SU carburetors. Six-in. wire wheels fitted with Michelin 205 tires provide a smooth ride.
Freshly completed and in spectacular overall condition, this is an ideal E-Type for any connoisseur.
