Following a prolonged absence, the Thunderbird nameplate returned on an all-new two-seat roadster platform designed to recall the 1955-57 first-generation cars. The exciting 2002 Ford Thunderbird was positioned to lead a host of long-time enthusiasts into a new era with modern features and excellent performance blended with a nostalgic personality. Classic lines combine seamlessly with outstanding design and functionality.

The 2002 Thunderbird came to market in the summer of 2001 as a limited niche production model aimed at 20,000 to 25,000 units of annual production. It won critical acclaim for its modern interpretation of the classic original roadster styling and was named Motor Trend magazine's "Car of the Year." On March 10, 2005, Ford announced that the Thunderbird would be discontinued after the 2005 model year and the nameplate would go back into hiatus.

Power is derived from a 4.0-liter V-8 engine that is mated to a five-speed automatic with overdrive that is smooth and responsive. Inside the 2002 Ford Thunderbird, you are surrounded with the comfort of air conditioning, power windows, door locks and seats. The white Thunderbird has a stylish black and red interior and a standard power retractable convertible roof so that you can enjoy your driving time to the utmost. Power brakes and steering are also part of this platform. Round headlights and an eggcrate grille complete the exterior with retro panache.
