The Chris-Craft saga began in Algonac, Michigan on the St. Clair River in 1874, when a 13 year-old boy by the name of Christopher Columbus Smith built his first boat. It was a simple lake boat for duck hunting, but it got him and his brother Hank building a succession of wooden boats. From these modest beginnings the brothers established a company that would evolve into one of the world’s most renowned and universally recognized names in boat building. Some dictionaries even list the word Chris-Craft as a synonym for “pleasure boat”.
The 21-foot Capri represents an extended bow 20-foot Riviera, with the distinctively raked Capri windshield and styling features. The Capri is remembered fondly as a favorite runabout of the 1950s wood boat era, where Chris-Craft reigned supreme.
The Chris-Craft name is synonymous with quality and this beauty also has a shapely bow that extends to the classic barrel-back lines at the stern; all emphasized by the attractiveness of the natural wood tones and the receding angle of the boat’s exterior height. This inboard/outboard runs with an inline flathead six-cylinder Chris-Craft Marine engine and also has a burgundy upholstery and natural wood interior with full Chris-Craft instrumentation. The chrome, brass and stainless fittings are all in very nice condition and contrast nicely against the finished mahogany. The Chris-Craft also comes with a twin-axle trailer. With transportation such as this, it will be easy to enjoy the glistening waters as you meander along your favorite shoreline.
