Mercedes-Benz has had an SL-class roadster in its lineup since 1955. SL derives from the German words “Sport Leicht” or sport light, denoting the lightweight construction of the gullwing roadster first offered in 1955. Known internally as the Type R129, this style was built from 1989-2002 including the range-topping 600SL introduced in 1993. One year later the name was changed to the SL600 featuring a 389-hp, 6.0-litre V-12. The R129 model was the first convertible/roadster to offer the automatic rollbar deployment in event of rollover.
This black roadster with tan leather interior is lavishly equipped as befits a modern-day SL including multi-adjustable power seats and stereo radio with cassette player.
