The Olds 4-4-2 began life in 1964 as an option on the mid-size F-85 with a $285.14 “Police Apprehender Pursuit Package,” in effect, Lansing’s answer to the Pontiac GTO. 4-4-2 stood for four-barrel carburetion, four-on-the-floor and dual exhausts. Much like the Buick GS, this was a more luxurious musclecar, but no less one serious performer. Beginning in 1970, 4-4-2’s received a standard big-block 455-cid V-8 and optional W-30 package which featured cold-air induction, long-duration cam, aluminum intake manifold, and low-restriction air cleaner giving the car 300-hp for 1972.
This Canadian car is equipped with the highly desirable four-speed manual transmission, Super Stock wheels, vinyl roof, AM radio with rear seat speaker, rear window defogger, specially painted hood and the Rocket Rallye Pac. It is one of 7,800 4-4-2 Hardtop Coupes of the 9,073 4-4-2’s produced for 1972.
