In 1980, 5,700 of the turbocharged Trans Ams were constructed with Indy Pace Car graphics as replicas of the track-used car. The code X87 Trans Ams lacked prior year’s shaker hoods in lieu of an asymmetrical hood scoop and specially-designed graphics. A turbocharged 301-cid motor was standard with the WS6 handling package along with 15-x8-inch turbo rims finished in white. All of the cars came with an automatic transmission. This particular Trans Am also features T-tops, AM/FM radio, power windows and locks as well as the factory window sticker and build sheet. Only 10 percent of all Trans Ams for 1980 were built as Pace Car Editions. Today, they are found in limited quantities and are great collector’s items.
