Based upon Plymouth’s very trustworthy Valiant, the Barracuda was the company’s first pony car and actually beat Ford’s Mustang to the street by two weeks in 1964. A myriad of engine options were available from a 170-cid slant six up to an economical V-8. This 1966 fastback was ordered new with the 273 V-8 and a two barrel carburetor rated at 180 horsepower and a four-speed transmission. It has bucket seats and a console and a factory AM radio in a very neat, correct interior. The engine compartment is exceptionally well detailed down to the vintage style tar-top battery. What sets this car nicely apart is the Halibrand kidney bean aluminum wheels and Wildwood brakes. It is a very attractive example of Plymouth’s unique pony car.
