Series 1104. 145 bhp, 384.8 cu. in. L-head inline eight-cylinder engine, three-speed manual transmission, front and rear semi-elliptical leaf spring suspension, and four-wheel mechanical drum brakes. Wheelbase: 142 in.

Packard greatly expanded its catalog for 1934, from six models on five wheelbases to six wheelbases and a full nine different models. New fender contours graced this Eleventh Series, the fronts curving downward nearly to the front bumper, which themselves were heavier. Other changes were more subtle: hood door handles, radiator caps, running boards, better upholstery, and a fuel filler integrated into the left tail lamp. In the engine compartment, there was a new oil cooler and an oil filter was installed. Provision was made for an optional radio, which necessitated a larger generator.

Among the 13 standard bodies offered on the three different Super Eight chassis was the Style 759 Coupe Roadster, as Packard then called its convertible coupe. Seating two in the cockpit, it had room for two more sporting passengers in the open-air rumble seat.

Delivered by Packard Motor Car Company of New York on 14 July 1934, this Packard Super Eight Coupe Roadster was acquired from the O’Quinn estate by the previous owner in 2010. It was more recently acquired by the current owner and presents as an older, body-off restoration. Since acquisition, the owner has performed a recent mechanical service along with fitting new carpeting and a new tan convertible top. The chocolate brown leather seats are in good condition, with pleasant stitching and fit, while the rumble seat is upholstered in the same leather. The wood trim on the dashboard and door moldings has been nicely restored as well.

Handsome in dark Packard Green with black fenders, it has nice paint with minimal flaws, good panel fit all around, and dual side-mount spares bearing correct metal covers with mirrors at the top. Black wire wheels have chrome trim rings and center caps, and are mounted with Denman wide whitewall tires. A rear-mounted trunk rack, long a Packard hallmark, completes the theme. The engine compartment is generally tidy, including the original firewall tag, and is equipped with a Bijur automatic chassis lubricator. The undercarriage shows little signs of use since restoration, and the mechanical features are eminently presentable.

The Packard Super Eight Coupe Roadster represents a rare crossbreeding of elegance with sport. Ready for road or show field, this one is a fine example with fewer than 600 miles showing since restoration.
