This car is reported as one of 11,402 with the manual transmission. This car was headlined with the (W72) 400-cid (L78) block, but would use the 350 high compression heads. The compression was outstanding, a high performance cam, giving the T/A a loping idle. Fit with a 800-cfm four barrel carburetor it will never have any problem getting enough fuel. As most of the newer high revving small blocks it was fitted with a high pressure oil pump, with the engine pulling out good horsepower. Its torque is backed with a close ratio four-speed transmission it makes it, in the owner’s words, a “Bitchin Ride.”
The exterior of the T/A, Starlight Black, really comes to life in the sunlight. The car was recently gone over inside and out, it has a previous respray from years past that was not show quality, but was finished by a true professional recently. It is now a true “cream puff” if there ever was one, in the owner’s opinion.
Included with the sale are PHS Documentation and a copy of the factory window sticker and owner’s manual. The interior is decked out with deluxe 19R (black), the rarity and collectability of this 6.6 T/A backed up with the aforementioned four-speed close ratio transmission and Hurst shifter “will make the Phoenix truly fly.”
Options on this 1977 Pontiac Trans Am included, 6.6-liter, 400-cid four-barrel V-8, M21 four-speed, raised white letter tires, power steering, bucket seat console, power disc brakes, high energy ignition, cast aluminum Snowflake wheels, Endura bumpers, remote sport mirrors, Formula steering wheel and Rally gauges; it also has new exhaust with muffler cutouts.
This T/A is also equipped to race in the stock SCAA Class and Pikes Peak Vintage Class.
