When this car was introduced, the name Riviera had meant something special for over 20 years as a standalone model name. It was the most special Buick of all and in 1985 it was called by Buick as being “every inch a statement of classic style, but at the same time so very very contemporary with four-wheel independent suspension, front –wheel drive and engines with the latest technological features.”

The 1985 Buick Riviera was their best definition of “personal luxury car” and many have always thought that this era of Riviera, Eldorado and Toronado would be recognized for their striking good looks, luxury and ease of operation.
