Oldsmobile introduced the 88 model in 1949. With its early roots in NASCAR racing, the 88 helped change the identity of Oldsmobile from a conservative brand to one of performance pedigree. By 1959, the 88 was on its fourth generation of production. The cars were completely redesigned – lowered and larger than the outgoing models. The 88 was available in either in the entry level Dynamic 88 or the mid-level Super 88. The Super 88 was offered in five different body styles. Fourth generation production of the 88 ran through the 1960 model year. The Holiday SceniCoupe offered great expanses of window area and pencil-thin roof line support and gave this 1959 Oldsmobile a distinguished light and open feel.
This 1959 Oldsmobile Super 88 offered here was restored and completed in 2009. It is presented in Code M Russet (coral) with a white top and tinted glass. The car rides on whitewall tires with factory color coordinated spinner-style wheel covers. The Super 88 is powered by a 394-cid, 315-hp V-8 engine which is paired to a four-speed automatic transmission. Equipment on the car includes power steering and power brakes. The interior is featured in a two-tone gray and white; and is also equipped with aftermarket air conditioning, courtesy lights, clock and a pushbutton Wonder Bar radio. This Super 88 is reported to be a Southern California car with zero corrosion that runs flawlessly.
