A Thunderbird convertible paced the Indianapolis 500 in 1961 and two new models debuted the following year. The first, a Landau hardtop, incorporated a standard vinyl roof and simulated walnut interior appointments. The second, the more famous Sports Roadster, which helped ease roadster purists’ pains by covering the backseat with a streamlined tonneau cover.

This white T-bird is believed to be a largely original car with 55,690 miles and a repaint that was completed in the factory correct color. Under the hood is a 390 cubic inch V-8 engine that is paired with a fully automatic transmission. Assisting with comfortable touring is power steering, brakes, windows, convertible top; and a pushbutton radio. Adorning the car are fender skirts, full wheel covers, whitewall tires and a white convertible top. The interior is completed with red bucket seats and the tonneau cover that turns this into a sporty two-seat roadster.
