Buick ads proclaimed for their mid-1965 optional Skylark Gran Sport series that it was “A howitzer with windshield wipers. The new Buick Skylark Gran Sport.” A 400-cid, 325-hp V-8 engine was at the heart of this desirable option. The Skylark GS was made available in two-door coupe, sport coupe and convertible. The engine also had a compression ratio of 10.25:1 with a Carter AFB four-barrel carburetor. A heavy-duty crossflow radiator and dual exhaust manifolds with oversized pipes was included. Exterior identification included red-filled Gran Sport badges on the grille, deck and rear fenders on the convertibles, plus another badge is affixed to the dashboard. The Buick engineering group had seemed to become a bunch of performance enthusiasts.

This example is presented in maroon with a black interior and a black top. The car has had one repaint 25 years ago. Among the equipment are power windows, power brakes, radio, spare tire, black top boot, new redline tires wrapped on original chrome wheels. This car is believed to retain its original 401-cid Nailhead V-8 engine, automatic transmission and differential. This car has its original body, new floor pans and new Gardner exhaust.

The Gran Sport offered here still has its original build sheet and owner's manual.
