This 1966 Candyapple Red Ford Fairlane 500 GT hardtop has black vinyl front seats and rear bench seat and is reported to have an outstanding, straight, well-fit body and frame with excellent exterior paint. The interior seats, door panels, dash, headliner and carpet are all related to be in very good to excellent condition. Everything in the interior works, including the front door panel armrest lights, rear console light, headliner light, emergency flasher switch in the glovebox, speedometer, parking brake, turn signals, radio, wipers, heater and all exterior lights. It has a matching AutoMeter tach mounted on the steering column and a three gauge cluster mounted under the dash.
The original S-code 390-cid V-8 engine is no longer with the car; however, it now has a totally rebuilt 351-cid Ford Windsor engine with New World Man O’ War aluminum heads, Weiand Stealth aluminum intake manifold with a Holley carburetor, and it now displaces over 400-cid and an estimated 425 horsepower. It also has a 427 big-block hood and side 427 badges. While the engine was being rebuilt, the engine bay was sandblasted and repainted in flat black.
Additionally it has new rack-and-pinion steering by Total Control, an aluminum radiator, electric fan with relay that reacts based on water temperature, new Optima red top battery mounted in the trunk, new Pertronix distributor, IMI high-torque starter, driveshaft safety strap, Sanderson powdercoated headers, 14-inch Grant mahogany grip steering wheel, three-inch exhaust pipes with electric cutout, cherry bomb fiberglass mufflers, rear air shocks and traction bars. It has a new nine-inch Detroit Locker rear end in a nodular casing that houses 3.50:1 ratio gears. The Top Loader four-speed manual transmission has been totally rebuilt and has a Hurst competition shifter. It has the original style GT wheels and makes an excellent show car and / or driver.
