The Ford Mustang is hands-down one of the most popular cars ever produced. Although the majority of Mustang aficionados are drawn to the 1964-1/2 through the 1970 model, the 1971 to 1973 Mustangs, which were never as popular as the earlier models, are the most affordable of the "early Mustangs" to buy today. The 1971-73 Mustang was available in five different body styles, with the Grandé version the most forgotten model of them all. The Grandé, which came in coupe form only, was an attractive upscale model that focused on luxury, as reflected in their somewhat lofty $3,212 list price. Looking sophisticated with their padded vinyl roofs and deluxe wheel covers, the Grandé was available with any engine option, which permitted buyers to order themselves a real sleeper. Today, in contrast to their 1960’s counterparts, they are reasonably priced, offer the same driving enjoyment and, because they share many parts with other models, are easy to restore with thousands of parts available from numerous suppliers.

Shown in the factory light blue color with white padded top, this Grande is one of few to be found in today’s marketplace. It features matching blue cloth and vinyl bucket seats, pushbutton AM/FM radio, power windows, power steering, power brakes, remote mirror and air conditioning that has been updated to R-134a refrigerant. This car was built with the optional 351 two-barrel engine with an automatic transmission. While there is not enough documentation to support the total road miles on this example, the odometer reads 40,000 miles and a strong argument could be made to claim original miles though the title shows exempt.
